Accra-Kumasi Highway Dualization – Contractors complete clearing of road alignments
The clearing of the road alignment for the construction of four major by-passes on the Accra-Kumasi Highway has been completed. So far, all eight local contractors have commenced earthworks, with some of them having completed the construction of their site camp. Works on the construction of 4 major by-passes on the Accra-Kumasi Highway started on the 15th of June this year when the government mobilized eight local contractors to site.
The by-passes at Osino, Anyinam, Enyiresi and Konongo are part of efforts by the government to dualize the Accra-Kumasi highway to reduce vehicular traffic and accidents as well as enhance the free movement of goods and people.
Earlier this month, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Ing Dr Abass M. Awolu, led a team of Engineers from the Ministry and the Ghana Highway Authority to inspect the progress of work.
Ing. Dr Awolu expressed satisfaction with the progress of work done so far and said the government is committed to dualizing all major truck roads in the country.
