The Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon. Stephen P. Jalulah, has reiterated the government’s commitment to work with all stakeholders towards the attainment of effective integration in the transport sector and to improve the transportation system in the country.
Speaking at this year’s Transport Sector Review Conference in Kumasi, Hon Jalulah said the forum presents an opportunity for stakeholders to dialogue and build synergies towards achieving the government’s vision for the transport.
“My Ministry appreciates the major developments in the other sub-sectors and the impact they have had on the road sub-sector and the transport sector in general. The rapid developments in the railways, maritime and aviation sectors bring us joy as they contribute to the integration agenda and enhance mobility, improved productivity and better livelihoods for the populace.”
He said over the last five years, the Ministry of Roads and Highways had made significant and unprecedented strides in the provision of road infrastructure across the length and breadth of the country.
According to him, “the construction of significant interchanges as well as expansion and maintenance of major road corridors have been aimed at improving accessibility to our air and seaports to enhance domestic and international trade and should be seen as a catalyst to the opening of the country. “
“The rapid developments in the railways, maritime and aviation sectors bring us joy as they contribute to the integration agenda and enhance mobility, improved productivity and better livelihoods for the populace,” he noted.
The 3-day conference brings transport sector ministries, agencies, development partners, academia and selected key stakeholders to review the Sector’s performance and develop strategies to move the sector forward.
