Press Release: Unauthorized Billboard at the Flowerpot Interchange
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
20.08.2025
UNAUTHORIZED BILLBOARD AT THE FLOWERPOT INTERCHANGE
The Ministry of Roads and Highways has observed with concern the installation of an unauthorized billboard at a section of the Flowerpot Interchange.
2. The Ministry has also taken notice of a recent press release from the Students Loan Trust Fund, which disclaims ownership of the billboard and cautions the public against unauthorized use of its logo.
3. We wish to remind the public that such installations violate regulations set by the Ghana Standards Authority’s “Advertisement Specification for Outdoor Signs” (GS 847:2019), Section 5, as well as Sections 11 and 15 of Act 540, and Section 188 of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012 (LI 2180).
4. Through this release, the Ministry calls upon the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly to work closely with the Department of Urban Roads for the immediate removal of the billboard. We also urge all assemblies to collaborate with the relevant regional road agencies before issuing permits for advertisements or notices along road corridors.
5. Furthermore, we appeal to the Advertising Association of Ghana to strictly enforce its code of conduct regarding the installation of outdoor advertising structures.
6. The Ministry of Roads and Highways remains committed to ensuring road safety and protecting our road infrastructure for the benefit of all.
