Rehabilitation Works begin on the 119km Berekum – Sampa Road Project
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Asenso-Boakye, on April 2, 2024, handed over the 119km Berekum – Sampa Road Project to Messrs Rango Construction Ltd at a colorful event at Jinijini in the Bono Region.
The road will be constructed to asphaltic finishing with the provision of drainage structures and road signs.
Speaking at the short sod-cutting ceremony, Hon Asenso-Boakye said the country is “progressively realizing its goal of reconstruction, rehabilitation and maintenance of major and critical trunk roads in all parts of the country.”
According to the Minister the Berekum-Sampa road is a lifeline because “it connects Berekum to the Border town of Sampa and traverses through major cashew growing towns like Jinijini, Japekrom, Drobo, Dwenem, Seketia and Suma Ahenkro.“
He said the road will ultimately “enhance accessibility to markets, healthcare, education, significantly reduce travel time and cost within these communities and also facilitate trade with our neighbouring country of La Côte d’Ivoire.”
