Roads Minister Presents Proof of Roads Constructed since 2017 to Parliament
Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Attah, has presented to parliament a detailed document of the number of roads the Akufo-Addo-led government has constructed between 2017 and 2021.
According to the Minister, a total of 4263.37Km of roads have been constructed so far.
The summary of activities as captured in the documents indicated that between 2017 and May 2021, 1,463.36km asphaltic overlays were undertaken, 837.27km of roads were rehabilitated, and 955.82km of roads were gravelled or re-gravelled.
Other activities include upgraded roads 482.83km, spot improvement 139.57km, resealing 86.20km, reconstruction 90.40km, partial reconstruction 139.41km and construction 68.50km.
Speaking on the floor of parliament, the Minister said, “because we want to offer prima facie evidence of what we have done, we have broken the road intervention into regions, and it covers all the 16 regions of our country, and we have also gone further to itemize all the road activities that constitute that total number.”
He added that “the performance of the Akufo-Addo led government in the road sector is unprecedented since independence in 1957 for our country.”
